PhD Student (Year 3)
EIES-Lab · The Hong Kong Polytechnic University
Yongan Zhang is a third-year PhD student at EIES-Lab, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His research centres on large language model (LLM) agents for urban resilience and global energy systems. He builds agents that bring together heterogeneous data on cities, climate and energy infrastructure, reason with physics-grounded models, and support decisions on how urban energy systems prepare for, withstand and recover from extreme events. At the global scale, he studies hydro, wind and solar PV systems, using AI agents and time-series models to assess resources, forecast generation and inform planning toward low-carbon, resilient energy supply.
